HMN Architects has provided full architectural and interior design services for Stormont Vail Health’s new ambulatory surgical center – orthopedic building, Cotton O’Neil Kanza Park. The sites natural slope was taken advantage of to allow for same level entry from surface parking lots on both the first and second floors, a large issue for orthopedic patients who typically have trouble negotiating steps or inclines.

The lower level is occupied by the four operating room suites and the same-day surgery area. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are on the second level, which also has shell space for future growth. The third level is occupied with physician offices and clinics. Two radiology rooms are also available within this facility.

The new building also allowed for the consolidation of services into a single location, further easing travel issues for patients. Stormont Vail Health has been able to use the building for physician recruitment including an orthopedic surgeon who practices traumatology.
