HMN Architects completed a remodel for the 7,782 SF Sarah Cannon Cancer Center of Excellence at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. The scope of the project consisted of renovating three suites on the first floor of the Quivira Medical Plaza building.

The goals for the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center project was to provide cancer treatment in an environment that will help reduce patient stress by providing patients with a tranquil environment filled with natural light and nature views. The design concept is based on the creation of natural Zen-like spaces that provide privacy, but also strengthen connections between patients and caregivers, which has been shown to significantly reduce patient stress.

The cancer center hosts six exam rooms, 13 infusion chairs, and one private infusion room. The new space also has a medical oncology clinic, procedure suite for minor cancer surgery, patient education, physician medical offices as well as patient and staff support functions.
